Who We Are
Welcome Home!
Grand Blanc United Methodist Church is a faith community and church family where you belong.
All that we do seeks to deeply love every person for who they are as a child of God, regardless of any of the labels the world may place on people. Together, we strive to be "friends in Christ exercising love, hope and grace to enrich all lives."
We are committed to making sure that you, your loved ones, and your neighbors will feel honored and valued. We recognize and understand that everyone is unique in who they are, what they believe, and where they are on their faith journey. It would be our privilege to get to walk with you on that journey of faith.

What We Believe
We believe in the remarkable grace and love of God that embraces us from the beginning, meets us where we are, and nurtures us as we grow in our faith and service to the world. We believe in the forgiveness of sins and God’s desire for a personal relationship with us all.
We believe everyone is created in the image of God and for the purpose of love, community, and goodness. Therefore, we value each and every person as a child of God and make space for all people in the life of the church.
We believe a church is a space and a family where everyone is loved, respected, and included. Where faith is nurtured, lives are transformed, and communities are served in Christ’s name. We understand that the church is not perfect and, though it has done good in this world, it has also been a source of harm for many throughout history. As we seek forgiveness, work to repair relationships, and simply do better, we strive to be a more loving reflection of Christ in this world.
We believe that God has entrusted and nurtures gifts within everyone for the purpose of ministry.
We believe in the inspired word of Scripture which provides us with a glimpse of God’s endless love, reminders of the renewing promise of grace and hope, and a model of love for God, neighbor, and self through Jesus Christ. Furthermore, we believe that Scripture is intended to inspire growth, love, and hope in all of God’s creation.
We believe that we are called to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. To this end, we believe it is our responsibility to “do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God.”
We believe that heaven is a gift promised to us, and yet it is not the goal of our faithfulness. Rather, we believe that our goal is to strive for and realize the kingdom of God on earth as in heaven. We believe this kingdom of God is not reached by might or power, but rather through the courage to love as Jesus loved, serve as Jesus served, and care for others with the compassion of Christ.

Meet our Pastor
Pastor Brian West was appointed to Grand Blanc UMC beginning July 1, 2020. He is joined by his loving wife, Dr. Stephanie West, a family medicine physician in the Grand Blanc area, and their three children: Matthew, Micah, and Jane. Pastor Brian and Stephanie have been married since 2013 and have enjoyed making wonderful and lasting memories with their family ever since.
Pastor Brian received his undergraduate in 2009 from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio (GO PURPLE RAIDERS!), and then attended seminary at Methodist Theological School in Ohio (Delaware, OH) where he graduated in 2012 with a Master of Divinity. Prior to coming to Grand Blanc UMC, Pastor Brian served in his first appointment in the Michigan area as the lead pastor at Laingsburg United Methodist Church in Laingsburg, MI where he served for 8 years.
Pastor Brian has a passion for meaningful and vital worship, passionate preaching, creative and engaging teaching, and engaging in a ministry of presence in the communities he serves. He has also has a passion for online outreach ministry. He believes it is important to see the church building and property as just one tool for vital ministry, while also remaining open to the idea that ministry can also be done over breakfast at a diner, in the aisles of the grocery store, in a park, at a high school sporting event, etc. Pastor Brian also shares a passion for leading the church at the intersection of church and society, serving and being in ministry with those at the margins of our communities and society, and expressing love and care for all people and creation.
