I'm New

Welcome to Grand Blanc UMC

Grand Blanc United Methodist Church is a place where you will find a warm welcome and belonging.  You will find a community of people walking their faith journeys, experiencing the love of God, each in their own way.  You'll find encouragement and excitement.  You'll witness grace, generosity and gratitude.  But most of all, you'll find people who love Jesus and who are eager to share that love, hope and grace in so many ways.

We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for God's glory.  And so, whether you're joining us for worship on Sunday morning, a community meal, a mid-week program, a children's program, or any other ministry, our hope is that you'll experience a new church home.

If you are interested in making Grand Blanc UMC your church home, we'd love to have you!

FAQ'S

WHAT ABOUT A NURSERY AND SUNDAY SCHOOL?
Nursery
We do have a nursery available on Sunday mornings for your little ones, birth through pre-school age.  The nursery is staffed by our wonderful Nursery attendant and one other adult volunteer.  All of our nursery care givers have been certified by our church's Child Protection Policy.  You are welcome to drop off and pick up your child as you want.  Just know that we're always happy to get to know your little ones.  Additionally, we don't want you to feel like you have to use the nursery.  It is just an option - a tool we want to provide you with.  It is not a requirement!  Children of all ages are welcome in the worship services, along with their wiggles, giggles, and other energy! Crying is just one way to lift our voices to God!

Children's Sunday School: J.A.M.
We do have a Sunday school program for children K-5th Grade that we call Jesus And Me (J.A.M.). It takes place during the hour between our worship services, beginning at 10am. The curriculum we use encourages children to discover the stories of the Bible with excitement and a spirit of exploration.  All of our Sunday School classes are led by our volunteer teachers and teaching assistants, all of whom are certified by our church’s Child Protection Policy.

Youth Sunday School
At 10am, our middle and high school students also have a Sunday school class designed for them.  This class gathers for the purpose of a spiritual devotional, conversation, support, encouragement and prayer.  Our Youth Sunday School class leaders have a passion for youth and will be great mentors for your older children.

Adult Sunday School
On Sunday mornings at 10am, we have a one-size-fits-all Sunday School class for adults of all ages.  Our Adult Sunday School class uses a variety of video and lesson resources that give space for mutual exploration of faith, scripture, and the application of both in our daily lives.
WHAT ABOUT TAKING COMMUNION?
As United Methodists we have an open table for the Sacrament of Holy Communion. This means that you do not need to be a member of this church, or of any church for that matter, to receive Holy Communion.  It is our hope that through this experience, you'll discover the grace, forgiveness, and love of Jesus Christ.  Furthermore, in The United Methodist Church, we use grape juice instead of wine so that everyone - even children - are able to participate.

Typically, communion is offered during both worship services on the first Sunday of every month, as well as on special Sundays such as Easter, Christmas Eve, etc.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Clothes are best! But seriously, please dress comfortably and please be yourself!  Whether you dress casually or formally.  You’ll find it all here at GBUMC! What matters is that you’re here.
IS THE FACILITY ACCESSIBLE?
GBUMC is handicap and wheelchair accessible throughout the building. That being said, we also understand that not all accessibility needs are easily apparent.  We want you and your loved ones to feel comfortable, safe, and cared for.  If there are ways that we can help and/or accommodate any need, please don't hesitate to ask.
WHAT ABOUT CONNECTING WITH OTHERS?
We have a fellowship time we call “Coffee Hour” that takes place between our worship services at 10am on Sundays. Please stay and help yourself to refreshments and engaging conversation. We want to welcome you!
Just inside our main entrance you will find a Welcome Center with a small gift for first time guests.  This welcome center is staffed with some of our wonderful volunteers.  They can help you with any question you might have.  They will also have information about our various ministries, programs, small groups, upcoming events, and more.

New here? We'd love to hear from you. Fill out the form, and we'll be in touch!
